What the CAT Scratcher's Been Up To

It's been over two months since I've posted an entry onto this blog, which of course is supposed to be all about me. I've been busy though.

We had our red carpet Hollywood premiere for our Internet Star Trek New Voyages: "World Enough and Time" in August -- a project which I have written about here and you can find in the September/October 2006 archives, which is when we actually shot it. It took about a year to get the hour episode through post production with all the special effects, but it is doing really well on the internet. If you wish to see it, go to startreknewvoyages.com and navigate from there. It will be well worth your time. It truly is like watching the 80th episode of the Star Trek: The Original Series.

So to help get the word out, I wrote up some articles for TVGuide.com (Fireside Chats from Hollywood) and WordPress.com (This Writer Wrote). I interviewed the director, Marc Scott Zicree, and three of the actors, Andy Bray, Julienne Irons, and John Lim. You can see those articles if you click on the links to the right.

I planned on doing more, but it took a long time to transcribe the interviews -- someone please invent software that can recognize multiple voices and voices not stamped into the computer! I'd be forever grateful. And I wanted to do them in person because somehow in email, the questions and answers come out somewhat sterile. Nothing like when people get together and feed off what each other says.

I was very encouraged by the response to my articles on various Star Trek sites. Timidly I posted on Star Trek New Voyages to alert people to the articles and I was surprised and delighted when I discovered someone created a thread on one of my articles titled: "Magnificent Article." That actually is a first for me, a thread about something I wrote, and I'm very proud of it. Since then there have been other threads on other sites, but there's nothing like your first time... Still, I'm proud of them all.

I have at least two more articles in the planning stage -- the interviews are done with Christina Moses and Lia Johnson, but I now have to transcribe them. I've learned so much from those two ladies as well as the trio of Johnny, Jules, and Andy. I've been busy with writing and producing, but as you know, I'd like to look into more acting -- if I can ever get time enough to get my headshots out and about. So I guess I'm in the soaking up stage with these wonderful people who have trusted me with their stories and their thoughts.

And now that I've caught you guys up on what I'm doing, I'm going to stop writing. After all, I think you want me to get working on my transcriptions. That is, after I pet Danny Girl and Pacey Jack, my furbabies who give this blog its name.
